The Lotus Flower is a women-led, non-governmental organization founded in response to the 2014 ISIS crisis and the subsequent displacement of Yezidi communities in the Kurdistan Region of Iraq (KRI). Our mission is to empower vulnerable women and girls affected by conflict, helping them overcome trauma, achieve financial independence, and become advocates for their rights. We envision a world where women and girls are safe from violence, have access to education, and actively participate in their communities.
Through four key pillars—Health & Safety, Education & Livelihoods, Peacebuilding & Human Rights, and Climate Change—The Lotus Flower delivers holistic, community-responsive programs in refugee and internally displaced person (IDP) camps. From mental health support and vocational training to health and fitness programs, women-led climate action, and peacebuilding initiatives, we aim to create lasting change.
