You're Invited to our Book Release Party!

Dear Skateistan Supporter,

It's finally here after two years in the making and some serious blood, sweat, and tears. Our amazing staff and volunteers at Skateistan in Kabul and around the world have self-published a massive, limited edition, full-color book and we are so stoked to share it with our friends and supporters around the world.
We'll be holding our worldwide release party and exhibition for the book in Berlin on June 9 and would like to invite you to join us!

Skateistan Book Release Party & Exhibition
Date: Saturday, June 9, 2012
Time: 6pm – late
Location: DAZ (Deutsches Architektur Zentrum), Köpenicker Straße 48/49, 10179 Berlin, Germany

This will be your first chance to check out and buy the book, entitled Skateistan: The Tale of Skateboarding in Afghanistan. Even better, 100% of book proceeds will go directly to Skateistan.

Our release event will have a mix of films, photographs, children's artwork, and DJs. There will also be a chance to grill members of the Skateistan team on why we teach skateboarding in Afghanistan. The exhibition will also be open the following day (Sunday) from 10am to 6pm.

We hope that you can join us for this very special occasion. It's a public event and the more the merrier so join our Facebook Event, invite your friends, and invite anyone you know who might want to come. I look forward to seeing you there!

About the Book:
Skateistan: The Tale of Skateboarding in Afghanistan shares the strange and beautiful intersection of traditional Afghan society and a new generation of Afghan skateboarders and artists. Through a balance of words and photographs, the book tells the tale of ‘Skateistan’, which since 2007 has taught skateboarding and creative arts to girls and boys in Kabul, Afghanistan.

The book was designed by Skateistan's Art Directors Alexandra Bald and Ana Lessing who are part of the C-D-A-P collective, which will also be organizing the release event.

Book Sponsored by: The Kindle Project and the Danish Embassy in Kabul
